How Do you know it is Time to Change Your Mind? Why Change Blog Direction?
We, all of us at home, never for one moment thought that it would ever come to a point when I am not excited about writing about travel! Seriously, I am batty about seeing new shores…Only thing is; I just do not fancy writing about it all anymore. I just want to enjoy, breath it all in, enjoy every scene, without the beady eye of a blogger and critic. I have no idea why, and wonder, when is it a good time to change your mind about your blog?
When we started Pkjulesworld, we had re-discovered our travel bug, had joined a Travel Club and we were truly bitten.
So, in November 2016 we launched this amazing blog with our red carpet experience in Florence, Italy.
We have served you wonderful people every blessed week on all things travel as we saw or knew them.
From:
- – The best time to book a flight
- – To Travel Habits, you must adopt
- – From Your quintessential Ultimate Packing Guide for any Trip
- – To the newbie traveller’s tips to Saving for that holiday
- – We also published A Great resource on How to Start Your Travel Blog.
- – Our Smart Travel Guide
- We had amazing guest blogs from Ryan Biddulph.
Yet, fast forward almost 5 years of consistently delivering all things travel, we feel ….blank. 💁♂️💁♂️
Is it time to change the direction of our blog? 🤔
We have been asking ourselves that question and also wondering: Is it ever too late to change your mind?
Is it ever too late to change your mind?
I have been journaling about my feelings and allowing the thought to actually sink in, that:
I sadly am not feeling the spark, and haven’t for a while to write about travel.
And I am the main contributor to this blog.
Of course, I like to write about anything esp. travel from a place of authenticity. And have realised there is a whole world out there beyond writing about travel…It’s called living the experience.
So, I wonder should we look at the wider subject of lifestyle? 🤔
Yet, I know that being known for something is the way to serve better. And lifestyle is just too wide an ocean… Plus, well, I like to put a stamp on something…
The fam has also been terra-firma bound for a few. What with our eldest going off to University and the younger preparing for GCSE’s. We had to slow down to support him better.
But another major reason for me Julie has been, my laser focus on building our Kalungi group brand.
With me immersed 100% in the above task, it has not been an easy task to raise the energy, and I totally won’t allow myself to serve up half cooked content.
I am the type that is either all in, Go Big or Go Home. And lately, when it came to content on this platform, I had an overwhelming urge to proverbially go home.
Can you relate…? 🤔
I have had to keep on top of the Writing and Publishing side of our brand including creating a full course on it: Draft 2 Sold.
Focusing on building up the Business Transformational Coaching.
Staring a Mastermind for marketers and business owners The Winning Entrepreneurs Den…
It has been super-hot in the Kalungi kitchen… Yet…
If one is passionate about something, they find the time.
I cannot say it’s a time issue, when one is passionate about something, they find the time. I can say hand on my heart it is a lack of passion issue. Could it be a bit of burn out?
So, while we are not going to completely disappear from your wonderful gadget, we will be taking time out.
Time to reconsider, check ourselves, see how best to serve you on this platform.
For the time being our last post for a long while will be about our trip to Israel and Palestine. So watch this space…
Then we will truly embrace the concept…
In the words of Seth Godin:
It’s never too late….to start heading in the right direction.
Changing Direction – What next?
Okay, hang on a wee bit. The website isn’t getting shut down or any such drastic measures. I bet you went phew! 😉
It may be that I am just a tad burned out, and need to lighten the load for a while.
In this case, it might be time to invite some guest bloggers, allowing me more time and energy to come up with a plan for our blog.
So, if you are
- a Fan and
- have been actively commenting and sharing on this platform, do reach to me on Facebook if you wish to post a juicy guest blog.
- This bit hurts me to say. But…its also an option. So, if you know someone looking to bag themselves a website thats been well and truly SEO’d, has great Alexa ranking and some great content to boot, Lets talk. Who knows we might be swayed…
So, we aren’t burning any bridges yet. We will take our time and make the decision that’s right for us and you our amazing readers.
Here is to hoping you have had a great trip with us. All over 59 countries and then some…We will be back. Just not the way you knew Pkjulesworld.
We leave you with Andrew Tyler’s change your mind lyrics… At some point he sings: “Lets travel again…”
We sure hope we will do so, vicariously with you, once we have worked out in our minds whether to:
“take the northern line… And leave the ghost of us behind.”
Take the northern line… And leave the ghost of us behind.
So that’s where we have been, are. Right now, we aren’t very clear on where we are heading when it comes to Pkjulesworld. And its place in the Kalungi Group brand.
On that somber note, know that you can still go out there, Do You and Be Great, until we put Pen to e-paper again! 😉

I sometimes feel burned out from writing . Rest for a couple of weeks, who knows you might feel that fire once again.
I will take that advice Elizabeth 😀 !!
I think we can all have a case of “writer’s block” every now and then. But I also feel that you should follow your passion. Hope you make the decision that is best for you and your family.
thank you for the support Lasonia <3
I have suffered from writer’s block a lot of time and have changed my blog’s direction every time. But now I have decided to be as random as I am right now! 😀
That’s fantastic Sushmita, do with YOUR blog what YOU think is best 😀 !!
It requires good determination I feel to change your blog and try a different concept. But yes if you are not happy with the current theme better to do what your heart says.
that is a great piece of advise. Comfort is above all, changing your mind about the travel is totally ok.
The time is right when you feel that the change has to happen to better to reflect your current situation and intentions to benefit your readers. Beautiful post!
Thank you so much for that!!
Hmmm. for me it actually depends.. but in the end, its your own decision and you do what you want right? Hehe. So cheers to that.
The beauty of having your own blog…you have control. And you are doing just that! You will figure things out…and for the better.
I hope that i will Ceci, Thanks for reading!!
It is really hard when you experience burn out of things for a time. I think going the guest blogger route and getting yourself some time to think would definitely be a good idea. That what you make an assertive direction and content doesn’t go lacking in the meantime. Hope you find your spark again and wish you the best.
You made me feel like crying…you make the mood sombre with your wiriting. Anyway, it is never too late to change your blog direction. Sometimes, life purposes shift and we have to make switches.
I totally agree. It is never too late to change especially when it comes to your blog! I have changed my mind so many times before I was satisfied with my niche!
It is important to find your niche ) a blogging place you will feel comfortable in. And there are many things that need to be considered before making a choice.
That’s so true Olya, you need to consider where you are in your life before making a big change 😀
I have been through burnout and it is no fun at all, especially when you try to go on through it. It’s your life and your blog, they are your decisions. I took a month off to deal with my burnout, I literally did nothing for that entire time.
When we become invested in a particular idea, it can be difficult to allow ourselves to change ur thought processes and overall mentality. Sometimes though, allowing for this shift is for the best and is well worth it.
Change is always welcomed. I think you should slowly ease into the transition.
Changing your blog topic can be challenging but if you have to/must – the transition should be slow and sort of mesh together… Like your old topic should mesh with the new topic. I sort of did this about 7 years ago…And I worked my new focus into my old one until I push the old topic out!
Change is the only constant in this ever changing world. Its always best to follow your heart
you are very right Bindu 😀
I have been thinking about making a change in the direction of my blog. I might just give it a try now!
love this topic! every single one of them is such an important things that I need to remember. Thanks so much for sharing
Change is something that everyone needs. Been writing for a parenting topic ever since but since my kids grow up, I believe that I should move forward and find new things I could share with.
I’ve always made blogging as my outlet, one of the things that make me happy. And happiness is very subjective and can change from time to time. So going into another direction is inevitable, from time to time.
Exactly Tweenselmom, Blogging is also my outlet 😀
I can definitely relate. I have a parenting blog, but my kids are getting older, so it is much less about surviving those baby years, and just life in general now.
It’s absolutely nothing wrong to change your blog direction. At the end of the day you need to think which is best for you. But I am bit biased with Travel blogs.
Thanks for understanding, Sometimes change is for the best 😀
Its good to have a change and redirect… We unleash our hidden talent that has been waiting for us. This is a great opportunity.
It really is, Sometimes making a big change in our life can create massive breakthroughs for us 😀
I really enjoy reading your travel posts, Julie! I was hoping to read more of them in the future, but if you feel like it’s time to move on to a new chapter of your blogging journey (career), then so be it. Follow what your heart tells you. 🙂
I personally believe that regardless of the topic/subject, it’s never too late to change your mind. I’m a firm believer in following your gut and doing what you think is best for your career/blog/family/etc.
Wow. Do you do some research before writing? Or you just start writing and inspiration comes to you. A budding blogger myself, I would love to know.
I find inspiration and then i do my research, Its a mixture of the too! Good luck 🙂
At some point we end up thinking like this but you need to find yourself and know yourself if what you really love to do.
You are so right Kenneth 😀
I believe it is totally okay to change your mind. It can be one of the best things you do. Most often we hear stick with it and think it is an across the board concept. It is necessary at time to stop and reevaluate. I might be coming from a business stand-point since I am an entrepreneur; however, it is within your right and power to do so, so if you feel like it, do it! 🙂
Changing your mind can make a big difference in your life for the better or worse, if you feel its the right path TAKE THE RISK! 🙂
