Our Breath-taking Couple’s Getaway – the Scandic Ariadne Hotel and Spa Review.
If you read our breath-taking Valentines getaway, then you will find this Scandic Ariadne Hotel review just as scintillating!
And you can read our Doubletree by Hilton Spa review here!
We spent literally two days trying to find a hotel that suited our needs in Stockholm. We had read a few blogs and almost all made it clear that Stockholm isn’t the cheapest of cities. They all implied that one has to be ready to spend to find great accommodation.
We asked our family over there and they said our best bet was a hotel of the Scandic Chain! This chain of hotels is more or less like the Holiday Inn Brand!
We found that there were hundreds to choose from. But we wanted a hotel close to the Cruise terminal and city center for our touristy fill!
Plus, we spent had a wedding anniversary to attend. This so sounds like a theme huh, our wedding anniversary at the Double tree and a 25th wedding anniversary to attend in Sweden hmm!
The idea was to have a total relaxation week away with a ton of family from USA, Finland, UK, Uganda and of course Sweden! We were a total of 39 people, but we’ll keep the rest of the family private.
We hoped we would have as much fun as we had at the Doubletree By Hilton Eforea Spa, whose review you can read about here! Or at the Arizona Conquistador Resort experience which we cannot recommend enough, and you can check out here!
So, did we love the experience? Might we make it a tradition? Well…
In this episode, we share our Scandic Ariadne Hotel review and experience. But more so, we would love to share our stay with you in arrears.
Below is a Walk about of the Hotel and some Inspiration for you!
The Scandic Ariadne Hotel
I never thought I could see things like this….as I cleaned an acre of compound as an orphan child. Your beginning does not define your results and never ever give up on your dreams or life. 🔥🙌🏽❤️

Normally when we review a hotel. We look at various criteria which you will notice as we go.
This was our early summer couple’s get away! It followed a truly hectic spring and winter! So, a relaxed, de-stressing, spa getaway was right up our street!
We are true believers that life is meant to be enjoyed and lived as a gift, thus its called the present and who better deserves to enjoy the fruits of your labour than you?
Pkjulesworld is here to share our experiences tips, ideas on travel, lifestyle, destinations without bias. And without further ado we went all in to enjoy this experience and share with you! In this case we also share our @pkjulesworld rating based on the following criteria:
- Location
- Facilities and services
- Character and style
- Bung for your Buck and
- Overall Rating… and, here goes….
Our Scandic Ariadne Hotel and Spa Review
Our Pkjulesworld Overall Rating 9/10 and below are the details why!
Location – 10 / 10
Set right by the Harbor, in the affluent area of Gardet, the Scandic Ariadne Hotel was spot on for our needs. This destination is about 3 miles from the Stockholm City centre and one can travel there by bus as well. It is also right on the Stockholm Harbour and Cruise terminal, a leisurely walk to check in for our cruise which we shared with you already.
You can read about our Adventure on the Ms Silja Serenade Cruise Here.
According to trivago it is located 10 miles from Arlanda Airport so, of course, if you drive, which we did not, there is plenty of free parking for guests at this hotel!
A much welcome benefit as it was quite windy when we arrived!

Scandic Ariadne Hotel Review- Facilities and Service – 8.5 / 10
At first glance you would be right in thinking you just arrived at the Harbour Offices!
The Scandic Ariadne is predominantly a Glass, concrete and Steel building that is quite imposing. It is all of 17-storeys and surrounded by a massive car park on one side and an expanse of water on the other!
It has standard rooms, family rooms, family suites and executive suites!
Once you step inside, you are met with a set of stairs and 3 lifts and a ship naval motiff. Thank goodness as we thought someone with Mobility issues may have had a problem in this hotel…
It has a relatively spanking new, contemporary and modern foyer with a 24-hour reception desk. And we loved the atrium and seating area since we arrived in the day time and the warmth that embraced us from the windy sea breeze was so welcome!
We can tell you that it did not feel too modern in such building. In fact, it complemented the beautiful ship style architecture around it!…This was very much reflected in our suite décor.
We immediately felt that we were going to have a great time here! Mind you, we always have the mentality that fun is what you make it!
The staff at the front desk who dealt with us was extremely professional and friendly. But they also seemed extra busy, there was a queue of guests waiting to be checked in.
A sign of a great deal in a hotel we think!
It was a real busy day being the day before the 2018 Athletics Diamond League. And we had the pure pleasure of meeting, dining with the UK and global athletes in our hotel woot…
Let’s talk about the Spa
The spa was ultra-cool, but not that busy when we visited, so we had it to ourselves Pauli and I…A pure pleasure we had too at the Aforea Spa. Are we blessed or what! Obviously not so col for the business. The changing rooms are separate of course with separate ladies and gents’ areas! Paul conformed that the gents side was cool.
The Spa is located on the 2nd Floor of the Scandic Ariadne Hotel – And its simply a Sauna and gym. No Pool! It is spotlessly clean we must say!

Scandic Ariadne Hotel Review – Character and Style – 7 / 10
It’s the attention to detail throughout the Scandic Ariadne Hotel & Spa that makes it special and why it will stand the test of time. The décor is Ship motif with lots of seating including little crannies along the stairway red carpet style to the third floor from the Hotel front! Quite classy not overbearing!
There are sail like canvas over the seating area, to create shade from the direct sunlight and possibly Greenhouse effect from the glass roof/Atrium space.
Stylized sitting space, a massive Fireplace with standalone lamps, a children’s play area that was well utilized by parents with toddlers! We honestly know most parents with children would love it!
The Room – 8/10
We had booked a Family suite for 4 overlooking the harbour i.e. Seaview and at first, we had been given a standard room with a sea view. It was cramped. That’s all we will say about that. Spotlessly clean, with twin beds. Not what we had paid for.
We immediately headed back down to reception, showed our screenshots of what we paid for and were moved immediately to a Family suite as we had paid for. No fuss.
This had a full two-seater comfy sofa, a table a full-length dressing table, bigger wall mounted telly. It also had two twin beds, but they did their magic and these became a double bed for us…it was super comfortable, esp. the pillows #HiFive
The bathroom was awesome with a large corner bath a large shower space enough for 2 people to have a shower simultaneously! The toilet had a soft close lid. Cool lil gear type tap! A Hot towel rad and lots of mirror. Lots of towels and soaps. Not forgetting the shaving mirror! More kudos.
A Hot towel rad and lots of mirror. Lots of towels and soaps.
The Food
What can we say about the food? The breakfast was shamaazing, filling, plentiful, more than enough. We had no need to queue as it was buffet style and the ambiance of the restaurant with a Glass roof and a Decked balcony overlooking the harbour and blue waters…well Simply beautiful!
And listen to this, to get a glass of juice, you taped an iPad and chose the juice you wanted, and then placed your glass under a tap and out came the juice…cool or what?
We had the extra pleasure and privilege of having breakfast for two days strait with Global High performers. Esp. the England Athletics team. We could not help but take some awesome selfies with them.
The Scandic Ariadne hotel delivered a surprise and that was a diamond One. We always noticed lunch revelers enjoying buffet style lunch, but we had too much to see and family demanding we have lunch and dinner with them so we didn’t have lunch or dinner at the Scandic Ariadne.
We did visit the Sky Lounge on the 17th Floor. It looks pure dope, but both times it was not open so we never had a drink over there.
To be honest we had an amazing time at this Hotel, way more than what we expected on reading the Trip Adviser reviews.

Bung for your buck i.e. Value for money – 9 / 10
Well truly value for money at £297 for 4 days, 3 nights for 2 don’t you think! This Included Full cooked breakfast, Deluxe Family Suite, used by 2, use of the Spa, Gym and the grounds. Plus of course free parking!
The Scandic Ariadne Hotel is also family-friendly as we noticed several families with children enjoying a weekend break too!
Well, that’s it for now…
So, if you are ever in Stockholm, Sweden you might consider the Scandic Ariadne Hotel and Spa for your stay, based on our experience.
There is nothing much we can say about this Massive Glass, Steel and concrete Structure. The Scandic Ariadne Hotel and Spa delivers and as Schwarzenegger said “We shall be back.”
